The Very Specials
Whether you jumped around to the sound of 2-Tone pioneers
The Specials in the Eighties, or are a recent
convert via their amazing 30th anniversary Dublin Olympia
gigs in the summer of 09, Dublin-based tribute band
The Very Specials provide the perfect opportunity to relive
the ultimate Specials experience.
Consisting of the cream of the burgeoning Dublin Ska
scene, The Very Specials play Ska as it
should be played, with calypso beats and walking bass
complementing jazz and blues inflected guitars. Add
to this the socially aware vocals, Fred Perry T-Shirts
and Pork Pie hats, this 8-piece besuited combo effortlessly
bridge the decades since Joe Strummer introduced The
Specials to the oppressed youth of Thatchers
Britain. All the hits are there (Gangsters,
Too Much, Too Young, A Message to
You, Rudy, Monkey Man, Rat Race,
Man at C & A), as are the countless
gems found scattered throughout their studio albums.
The band since setting up early 2010 have played Nationwide,
abroad and numerous summer festivals. The majority of
the bands line up have shared the stage with Bad Manners,
Madness, Imelda May, Horace Andy and many more.
Live footage from the bands Button Factory show led
