A majestic name for an imperious band. Hailing from
Waterford, O Emperor have orchestrated a multi layered,
multi faceted sound that betrays their tender years
and that, with one giant leap, puts them at the forefront
of our brightest talent.
O Emperor's single 'Po' was named SINGLE OF THE FORTNIGHT
in Hot Press Magazine - "nothing short of
genius". The single reached number 1 on the downloadmusic.ie chart.
Self produced, impeccably arranged and immaculately
performed, O EMPEROR create a multi-layered, multi-faceted
sound with lyrics evoking childhood fears and adult
frustrations; "PO" proves O EMPEROR have a
genuine streak of originality and self awareness that
manifests itself in this stunning debut release. "PO"
ploughs a supremely confident furrow between classic
American harmonic pop and the best of British alternative
music since the ‘80's.
The band have recently made three TV appearances, performing
"Po" on The View on RTE1, "Don't
Mind Me" on When Under Ether for RTE2
and “December” on Other Voices on RTE2.
O Emperor proved to be a stand-out success at the Hard
Working Class Heroes festival in Dublin October 2009.
They performed 4 songs for a 2FM Session in
October 2009 and headlined the Hot Press New Bands Stage
at OXEGEN 2009. 2010 has seen them headline
their first tour of Ireland including 3 sell out shows
and also a 9 gig stint in the UK. They will join
Mumford and Sons on the last 3 shows of their UK and
Irish tour before releasing their new EP and single
in April.
