Lulu Doxin
"Think of Holland and its most famous exports
and most Irish people would probably think of tulips,
clogs and total football.
But music?
Erm
no.
Well Dutch singer-songwriter Lulu Doxin might just be
the artist to change that.
Born in Haarlem, near Amsterdam, Lulus musical education began
on the harpsichord and piano as she explored the music
in her parent's collections and she cites the likes of
The Beatles, Mozart and Bach as early varied influences.
Echoes of that eclectic musical upbringing can still
be heard in Lulu's recent recordings but just as prominent
are notes of more recent influences like Jeff Buckley,
Wye Oak, Antony and the Johnsons, Ryan Adams and Bon
Iver.
With countless tours of the Netherlands behind her,
not to mention a short Irish tour in 2009 (that saw
her play Electric Picnic and the Spirit Store in support
to SJ McArdle), Lulu is back to record a new E.P. and
further hone the songs that will make up her debut album
'At The End Of The East', due for release later this
year
