The Filthy Six
"THESE GUYS HAVE GOT ALL THE LICKS. SOUL JAZZ HOW WE LIKE IT, ROUGH, RUGGED AND PLAYED BY GUYS TOTALLY ON TOP OF THEIR GAME. A VERY EXCITING ADDITION TO THE UK SCENE" - The Craig Charles Funk And Soul Show, BBC 6Music

The Filthy Six are the most exciting, authentic Soul Jazz outfit in the UK today and have established themselves as one of the finest live acts around. Their hip-shakingly powerful combination of jazz, funk and boogaloo is in the finest traditions of 60's Blue Note artists such as Lou Donaldson, Cannonball Adderley, Grant Green and Jimmy McGriff. Equally at home playing the sweat-drenched dancehalls of club land or the more traditional jazz room setting, their music appeals to both dance floor groovers and chin-scratching jazz heads alike.

The sextet is comprised of some of London’s finest young musicians who lend their talents to a variety of top artists from around the world including Tom Jones, Amy Winehouse, Duran Duran, Jill Scott, Mark Ronson, Basement Jaxx, Pee Wee Ellis, Madness, David Axelrod, Spiritualized, Mercury Rev, Ian Brown, Duffy, Mumford & Sons, 4Hero, JTQ, Graham Coxon, Hard-Fi, Richard Ashcroft, Ed Harcourt, Bobby Wellins, Heritage Orchestra and Nostalgia 77.

Recent Filthy business has seen the boys making their debut “live” sessions on International Radio; playing to great acclaim on Mark Lamarr’s - God’s Jukebox - show, BBCRadio2, and the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC 6Music. They’ve performed a series of blistering festival sets around the UK including the London, Marlborough, Greenwich, Ealing, Reading and Isle of Wight International Jazz Festivals; Vintage at Goodwood (where the boys also backed up Northern Soul legend Ann Sexton), Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a headline slot at the Jazz Lounge, Glastonbury Festival, and a humdinger of a show at the St Paul Soul Jazz Festival, France. Nick and Mark also squeezed in a quick hop across the pond to join The New Mastersounds on their gig at the New Orleans Jazz Festival last April. In between all of this the band has released an album, topped the bill at the legendary Acid Jazz records 21st Anniversary show and still found time to bring the house down at some of London’s most discerning music venues – Jazz Café, Pizza Express Jazz Club, Cargo, Vortex and the world famous Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club to name but a few.

Their debut album – The Filthy Six – is out now on Acid Jazz Records and is guaranteed to blow your socks off! Fact.
